In 2007 a group of friends first came across an amazing structure known as the GEODESIC DOME. From that moment on, they could never look at a conventional structure the same way again. Today, Planet Dome Ltd is the result of the dedication to their findings.
The geodesic dome was a concept first conceived in the USA in the 1940’s by R. Buckminster Fuller. It is the most efficient, strongest, fastest-to-build and probably the less-costly structure on the planet, paving the way to affordable and ecological living.
As you can imagine, soon after seeing the first dome online, the team enthusiastically began its research, leading them to discover that a dome is not just another home or another event shelter; it is a ‘philosophy’ and a unique lifestyle taking us back to our roots and providing a more environmentally friendly and sustainable way of living. Everywhere the team looked they saw domes, after all everything in nature is round… and spherical! The organic shape of the Dome is no coincidence. It is exactly that which gives it its unique identity and makes it perfectly in tune with nature'’s forms and rhythms! Finally, a dome's round shape and the fact that a geodesic dome has many connecting points to hold it together makes it extremely strong as a structure and it allows it to withstand all extreme weather conditions and earthquakes like no other structure.
The natural progression of this passion was to build the first dome ever in Cyprus in 2007 and soon after, they received the rights to exclusively represent Solardome Industries Ltd in Cyprus, the largest and sole UK manufacturer of glass geodesic domes. The next step, taken in 2009, was to proceed with the rights to represent Pacific Domes Inc, the US manufacturer of the canvas domes with their extensive uses for event planning, greenhouses and so much more. Naturally, in 2010, Planet Dome acquired the sole rights to represent Natural Spaces Domes Inc, the US leader in building wooden geodesic domes for domestic use with more than 40 years of experience in the field and with hundreds of dome-houses built.
By becoming the exclusive representative of three leading international dome manufacturers, Planet Dome can now offer Dome solutions to a great variety of purposes and serve every customer’'s need - ranging from building a house in the countryside, on the beach or on the terrace of a building in the middle of the city - to having a huge canvas dome for hosting a cultural or business event, or even having a small greenhouse dome in your back yard. Our expert team provides design, import and consultation services on all kinds of Geodesic Domes, while our external collaborators can also provide you with all necessary architectural and construction services.
